home of artist and writer M.B. Lackey

M.B. Lackey is an artist and writer based in central Kentucky. As a Christian creative, she is interested in all ways to create beautiful things that are life-affirming and consoling. With an academic background in history, languages, and religion and a self-taught pursuit of illustration, M.B. weaves together traditional art sensibilities with a deep appreciation of the human person and of nature. Her preferred art form is traditional portraiture in graphite and watercolors, however she is ever a student of her craft and a lover of experimentation, creating additional works in oil, acrylic, hand-carved block print, and digital media. As a writer, M.B. Lackey is interested in creative non-fiction, especially the essay, as well as literary fiction.

Born-and-raised in Los Angeles and finding herself in the rural south, M.B. uses her blog, Instagram, and YouTube accounts to create content that both provides meaning for herself and, she hopes, will be inspiring and enjoyable for others. She thinks her story as a would be-academic turned author and artist on a mini-farm in the middle of nowhere is unique, and though it brings its own set of challenges, also allows her to appreciate God’s gift of life, nature, and redemption in a truly wonderful way.
